Rob Zombie Awkwardly Updates Us On His Upcoming ’31’

Rocker turned filmmaker Rob Zombie is making bold statements, Deadites. In a recent post to his facebook page, The Devil’s Rejects director said this in regards to his newest villain from the upcoming film 31:

“DOOM-HEAD (aka Richard Brake) does not fuck around. This guy is one fucking intense dude. I predict that he is the next great villain of horror.”

The original Facebook post can be found here.

Really Rob? Even if you’re passionate about your project, and we would be excited by that notion, I think that’s a little too far throwing around the word “great” about your own work . Humility can go along way my friend. Even for a film as crazy as 31 is shaping up to be, it’s a bold statement.

According to Bloody-Disgusting:

31 follows five carnival workers who are kidnapped the night before Halloween and held hostage in a large secret compound known as Murder World. Once there, they have 12 hours to survive a terrifying game called 31 in which ‘The Heads’- murderous maniacs dressed as clowns – are released to hunt them down and kill them”

Honestly it makes me not want to see it. Certainly not what Zombie wants his statement to do. I really love The Devils Rejects, I think it’s a modern masterpiece, but the filmmaker is more miss than hit. On top of that, putting that expectation in the minds of your audiences  is a rookie mistake. Either way, only time will tell if his carnival feature will live up to his self-imposed hype.
