9. Emma Stone auditioned for the role of Laurie Strode

A-list actress Emma Stone has become a household name at this point in her career. She’s had many memorable performances in films like Birdman and Zombieland, among countless others. With a Best Actress win at the Academy Awards for her part in La La Land, it would seem like there’s no role Ms. Stone couldn’t tackle. However, it turns out there was at least one role she wanted but didn’t have — the lead in Rob Zombie’s Halloween.

For the part of the new Laurie Strode, Stone auditioned for the role. Like Jamie Lee Curtis in 1978, Emma Stone could have been playing the biggest adversary of Michael Myers. For whatever reason, she didn’t win over Zombie and the producers, as Scout Taylor-Compton would be the one to nab the part. Despite losing out, Stone has obviously not let the missed opportunity slow her career down.

To be fair, Stone was a relative unknown while Zombie’s Halloween was shooting. She only had a few minor TV roles to her name by that point. Coincidentally, she makes her feature film debut in Superbad, which would premiere in theaters the same month as the Halloween remake. I guess either way, Stone was destined to start her Hollywood film career in August of 2007.
