Ahead of next month’s official launch date, Friday the 13th: The Game devs have released two of the collectible “Pamela Tapes” you can find in the game.
If you game like I do, you’re a sucker for finding all those collectibles hidden throughout video game stages. I can’t tell you how many hours of my life I wasted searching for Riddler Trophies in those damn Batman games. But these optional goals of finding collectibles to give players something else to do when they feel like heading off the beaten path.
Gun Media and Illfonic’s Friday the 13th: The Game is apparently going to be featuring collectibles of its own. This includes cassette tapes of interviews conducted with Mrs. Voorhees, Jason’s mother, before the events of the series Friday the 13th. In the tapes, Mrs. Voorhees, aka Pamela, talks about what happened with her son at Camp Crystal Lake.
Weeks ahead of the game’s release, the Gun team have released the audio of the first two “Pamela Tapes”. They have uploaded them into a single video file on YouTube. I have taken the liberty of embedding that video on this post, and you can watch it directly below this paragraph.
Eerie, but awesome. Now to find the rest of them.
It’s going to be awesome finding this stuff. This all new dialogue gives us a deeper look into the mythology of the original story. You can be sure I’m going to make it a point to find every single one.
In the interview clips, one of the policemen appears to be voice actor Dave Fennoy, who plays Lee Everett in Telltale’s The Walking Dead. I was pleasantly surprised to hear his voice in another of my favorite horror franchises. However, while that voice is unmistakably his, I still should note I haven’t officially yet confirmed it to be him.
Friday the 13th: The Game comes out for Steam, Xbox One, and PS4 on May 26, 2017. Playing on Xbox Live? Add me at slimymeteor and I’ll see you there.
