It’s All in the Family

It was a whirlwind of activity for the cast of Ash vs Evil Dead at New York Comic Con. From a panel discussion with an exclusive screening of the premiere episode of Season 3 to a meet and greet with fans. There are plenty of surprises in store and thanks to the folks at Den of Geek and SyFy Wire, we have some details.

According to SyFy Wire, the first episode of Season 3 is “hilariously gruesome.” Sounds like the splatstick is back. In addition to Ash meeting his daughter, Brandy (Arielle Carver-O’Neill), apparently, we will get to meet her mother Candy Barr as well. That name is so perfect for the AVED universe.

Of course, Brandy gets thrust into her father’s Deadite slaying world headfirst and it is going to be a bumpy ride for both of them. In the words of Bruce Campbell from our September interview with him, “Ash has always told the truth. That’s the one thing that he has even though the truth sounds ridiculous.

So, there’s a lot of reconciliation that has to happen. There are things that happen that most daughters would flip their fathers off and say, ‘I’m never going to talk to you again!’ This is a nightmare for a guy like Ash to deal with.”

The New Crusaders

Kelly and Pablo are also coping with their new lives as well. Dana DeLorenzo at the Build series panel said that her character is like a “warrior without a war.” Meanwhile, Ray Santiago’s alter ego, Pablo will be looking within himself and finding his inner Brujo.

Fans will meet the sexy and enigmatic Dalton (Lindsay Farris). He is the leader of the Knights of Sumeria who teams up with Kelly to fight the good fight against Ruby (Lucy Lawless) and her evil minions.

This is already sounding like Season 3 is pulling out all the stops. The first episode makes the wait until 2018 worth it.

Bruce Campbell and the Fight for Season 4 Rages On

More from 1428 Elm

Throughout this media blitz, Bruce Campbell has been very fervent about fans getting on board and helping to get a Season 4 renewal. He mentioned this yet again at the panel discussion. This is an ongoing fight and we at 1428 Elm back him 100%.

According to Den of Geek, Campbell addressed fan concerns about pushing the debut of Season 3 to 2018 and the lack of response on renewal of the series for Season 4. “Those of you in the corporate world might understand when two corporations collide, it takes a while to figure things out. You see our bosses now have bosses, and the bosses are talking, having long and important discussions about, first of all, who gets shitcanned and who stays.

So, once they work their problems out, they’ll work our problems out. They’re going to move us to February, because they’re trying to get us out of a very nasty timeslot, which is the fall, so we think that’s going to help. It’s more time for you to get the app between now and February.”

This can be a lengthy process but the message is extremely clear. We have been reiterating this along with the cast for months now at 1428 Elm.

Picking Up the Boomstick

I don’t know how many different ways it can be said or who has to say it to get the point across but getting the app or adding STARZ to your cable package (if available) is the way to let the network know that this show is loved.

As we said in our past article, “get the STARZ app, download the show and send big, sloppy love letters to them to let them know you want Season 4.” Start binge watching the show before February 2018. Continue to buy the DVD’s and the Blu-rays. Take to social media and let STARZ and Lionsgate know how you feel. Numbers will do the talking.

STARZ needs to know the size of the fanbase to justify renewal. I am not being patronizing, just trying to tell it like it is from my years in middle management in corporate America.

Another Reason to Tune In

As if fans need another reason to stay involved with the show, at the panel Bruce Campbell dropped a hint about an upcoming storyline.

Den of Geek reported that when asked about the grossest episode he has ever filmed he responded, “I have a fight in a sperm bank and I’ll leave it at that.”

Wow. That makes Season 2’s episode, “The Morgue”, pale in comparison. Just for that alone, if you don’t have the app, quick, download it now! It will be worth it.

Remember if you are on social media, start #bringbackboomstick to your posts. This will send a message to STARZ that the fans are 100% behind Ash vs Evil Dead and that we need season four!
