Halloween fans have created a “shot-for-shot remake” of John Carpenter’s original 1978 movie, and the fan film will be released later this month!
If you can’t top the original, why not just match it?
That seems to be the mindset behind an upcoming Halloween fan film, set to be released a few weeks from now. The “shot-for-shot” film will be exactly as it sounds, matching camera angles and dialogue as closely as possible to the original movie. Key characters such as Laurie Strode, Michael Myers, and, of course, Dr. Sam Loomis will be featured as new performers act out scenes the exact same way they played out back in 1978.
Operating on “virtually no budget,” only certain scenes from the film will be included as opposed to the entire movie — but it certainly sounds entertaining. Five scenes in total from the original movie will be present. So, to be clear, this is a short film, and not a literal recreation of the whole entire movie.Courtesy of Michael T. Originals
Michael T. Originals is in control of the project, with Michael T. Lombardi and Nils Toledo, Jr. serving as the filmmakers. As longtime Halloween fans, the two have seen many fan films based on the series over the years. However, they saw it as more of a challenge to recreate four iconic scenes from the first film, using duplicate costumes and lookalike actors. In addition, they’ve also put their own spin on a fifth scene, but to see what exactly they mean by that, we’ll have to watch the movie.
Find out more about the project at the filmmakers’ official website. The film will officially release on July 20. You can watch a teaser trailer for the Halloween shot-for-shot remake below.
