If you’re new to the franchise or are an old hat by now, we take a look at the 20 scariest and grossest creatures through the Resident Evil game series.

Being the fan of the Resident Evil games as I am, I have had my fair share of scares thanks to the various monsters, zombies and mutants that the Resident Evil games have to offer. As such, I have compiled the Top 20 scariest and grossest creatures to come out of the minds of Umbrella, Tricell and other seedy B.O.W. developers that Capcom has to offer!

Regenerators/Iron Maiden: Resident Evil 4

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard wasn’t the first game in the series to introduce a highly regenerative mutant B.O.W. In Resident Evil 4 (widely considered one of the best installations in the entire franchise), there was an introduction to the first use of a mind-controlling parasite turned weapons called the Las Plagas, which is different from the parasitic virus, Uroboros that was let loose in the African villages in Resident Evil 5.

Las Plagas created a variety of mutations and one of the scariest of the bunch was something called Regenerators.  Regenerators heal themselves quickly which means they are difficult to kill. The only way to kill them is to kill the parasite located either on their front or their back, depending on the mode you are playing.

Iron Maidens are the same basic creature as the Regenerator except they have giant friggin’ spikes sticking out all over their bodies, meaning that if they go in for a hug, you’re going to have a lot of new holes.

Like the Regenerators, Iron Maidens will grow back whatever you’ve blown off quicker than you can kill them and the only way to dispatch of these monsters is killing the parasite located in front AND in back of these monsters. Distance is your friend with these.
