1428 Elm’s Best Horror Villains
Christine (Christine)
Christine, the eponymous 1958 Plymouth Fury possessed by untold supernatural forces (in the Stephen King novel it is her previous owner), is anachronistic of most horror villains. We can see Freddy, Jason, Michael, Chucky, so and a so forth. We’re able to read them somewhat. The same cannot be said for Christine.
Sure, she’s a beautiful old car. But she doesn’t have any of the visible characteristics of a normal horror villain. She’s without blemish, without scar, she basically looks like an old geezer’s trailer queen at a car show. Appearances can be everything in a horror film, and in Christine’s case, she’s as unassuming as they come.
But aside from it all, she still manages to put a spell on hapless Arnie Cunningham and as a result, uses that obsession to her benefit. It also helps that after she inflicts hell on her victims, she’s able to repair herself in such a manner that she basically cannot be stopped. She’s dangerous in every manner of the word, and that’s what makes her such a great horror icon.
