Norman Bates (Psycho)

Ah, Norman. Who could forget this tortured soul with a pretty hefty oedipal complex? Though he made his debut in Robert Bloch’s 1959 novel, Psycho, we all know and love him from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 film of the same name.

Norman Bates is the reason we have one of the most iconic scenes in horror today: the infamous shower murder scene. You know the one, screeching violins, blood swirling down the drain, the flash of a steely knife. Heck yes.
