9. Friday the 13th (1980) Directed by Sean S. Cunningham
In 1958 two camp counselors at Camp Crystal Lake are killed by an unseen assailant. The camp is then closed down. In the town the locals have started to call it Camp Blood. Twenty-two years later Steve Christie is attempting to re-open the camp. What could possibly go wrong? The unsuspecting teenage counselors are killed one by one. We finally find out the killer is a crazed former employee who blames the camp for her son Jason’s death. This movie is special to me because of the rare female killer in Mrs. Voorhees. Not to mention it spawned nine sequels and a reboot.
