5. Child’s play (1988) Directed by Tom Holland.

Let’s face it, dolls are creepy. They’re even more creepy when they are possessed by the soul of a serial killer. Charles Lee Ray a notorious serial killer is gunned down in a Chicago toy store, but before he dies he transfers his soul into a “Good Guy Doll” The hot toy of the season. A little time later, a desperate single mother buys a good guy doll by unconditional means for her son Andy. There is something different about the doll. Andy claims Chucky does some things, making messes, killing the nanny. You know the usual. Of course no one believes him. Chucky’s murders escalate, Andy is the only suspect. Eventually the mother learns the truth, the soul of Charles Lee Ray is in her son’s Good Guy Doll. Chucky attempts to kill the mother, but the detective who shot Ray in the first place kills him again, this time for good? I’m sure this made many parents rethink buying their children the My Buddy dolls, at the time. Fun story from my childhood, (before I even started watching scary movies.) I had a my buddy doll. I sat it on the couch before going to bed. My aunt came in after seeing Child’s play, it scared her. I didn’t do it on purpose of course, but I still laugh.
