Bloody Bits: Out of the Dark Comes Out This Week, and More!
A morbid Monday morning to all of you! Here’s a roundup of what’s going on in the horror universe today.
For starters, for those of you wanting to catch a film in theaters, The Lazarus Effect came out last Friday, which I think looks pretty good. Currently, that film only has a rating of 6.2 out of 10 over at IMdB, but a few low scores helped sink that score below a 7 – 52% of the people who rated it so far gave it a 7 or higher.
If you’e looking for a haunted hose flick instead, Out of the Dark hits theaters this Friday. The film stars Julia Stiles and Scott Speedman as a couple who move to Colombia in order to take over a paper mill. The couple discover that the house they discover is haunted, etc. and so on.
I have read a short synopsis of the film, and it sounds creepy. Plus, the tagline for the film is “Prey for the children” – see what they did there? Check out the trailer if you have not already.
For those of you who watched the Oscars last night and found yourself wondering, “Why don’t more horror films get nominated for these awards?” here’s a great piece I found over at the International Business Times site. It’s worth a read, although I don’t agree with the author when he classifies as The Silence of the Lambs as a horror film.
And if you are curious about which horror films have won Academy Awards, Dread Central has you covered! Am I the only who doesn’t classify The Silence of the Lambs as a horror film? Must be.
Finally, here’s a form of entertainment I really never considered until this morning: horror podcasts. Sure, we all talk about film and TV, but there’s some cool stories being shared through your speakers or headphones – check out this piece over at Wired that gives you a few podcasts to check out in your spare time.
