4. “Black Hole Sun”- Soundgarden

"Black Hole Sun/Won’t you come?/Wash away the rain?"

I may be partial to this solely because this is the type of rock I grew up with, but I’ll always love this song. Even still, 21 years later and I can’t help but wonder, “What the f*ck did I just watch?” after watching the video.

It starts off innocuously enough, with the band singing on a sunny hillside overlooking a happy, albeit distorted town that looks to be a mockery of Americana. But the the sky turns black with the arrival of the titular “Black Hole Sun,” and everything starts to warp and disturbing images begin showing up such as a little girl roasting a Barbie doll over an open barbecue grill, a woman catching insects with her tongue like a frog, and various townsfolk being suck into the black hole.

Like I said, “What the f*ck did I just watch?”
