1428 Elm: Our First Wes Craven Films
By Billy Cripps
Scream (1996):
What can I say about Scream that I haven’t already? This movie was one of the many times Wes Craven revitalized horror. If not for Scream, by 1997 the horror genre may have had a slow death of straight to home video releases. Instead, it became a successful franchise and is still loved almost 20 years later. The chilling voice of Ghostface and the deadly games he played were inventive compared to killing people outright. I came to enjoy the mystery slasher sub-genre and realistic horror movies the most because of this film.
