The Walking Dead: 6 Characters the Show Did Better

1. Carol Peletier

Aside from the same basic backstory of being Sophia’s mother, both versions of Carol Peletier are vastly different.  She’s kind of a nutcase in the comic book series, even going as far as to try to “marry” both Rick and Lori at the same time.  Much more pathetic in the books, a depressed Carol even ends up feeding herself to the walkers, which was a moment that would have made Lizzie proud.

Compare that to the TV show version, portrayed by Melissa McBride.  All I’d have to do is point you to the Season 5 opener when she saved the entire group from Terminus, complete with well-placed headshots and a giant explosion.  She’s become a character that makes the difficult decisions when nobody else will, but she never lost her soul— my heart broke alongside hers when she was forced to put Lizzie down in The Grove.  She’s keeping her badassery a little more incognito since moving into Alexandria, but she’s definitely still got it, and I’m hoping she’ll stick around for much, much longer.

Season 6 of The Walking Dead premieres Sunday, October 11th on AMC at 9/8c.
