10 Horror-Themed Graphic Novels You Should Read

Hellboy, BPRD and the Mignola-Verse
If there’s anything bad to be said at this point in the series, it’s that in order to follow everything that’s going on, you have to be quite knowledgeable in the Hellboy universe. The elaborate continuity and mythology have been painstakingly constructed over the 200+ issues creating a web of intricate details that can be brought back at any time. I don’t want to dissuade you from picking this up, though. After all, you can always cheat and use wikipedia. The BPRD series is a spin-off of Hellboy and features the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, an organization that uses the services of a varying cast of supernatural people, including Hellboy himself. There is a lot going on in this series, a lot of Lovecraftian characters, a lot of catastrophic events, and a lot of chaos. I don’t think it can be properly distilled into a few sentences, just believe me when I say, it’s worth the read.
