There’s long been an argument to include Ripley from the Alien franchise as a final girl, despite the fact that the films obviously don’t belong to the slasher genre. But in 2008, Elizabeth Ezra published a book on director Jean-Pierre Jeunet in which she argues for final girl status of both Ripley and Annalee Call in Jeunet’s Alien: Resurrection. What makes this a particularly interesting addition is that Annalee, while fulfilling the requirements needed for final girl status, is technically not human. Here we see a new kind of final girl: the final gynoid.
