9. Jason X

Jason X – New Line Cinema

Jason X, also known as “the one where Jason goes to space”, will probably be at the bottom of the list for many Friday the 13th fans when it comes to picking their favorites. As you can see, it’s not very close tot he top of my list, either. But it’s not quite as bad as many would lead to you believe.

Sure, the very idea of Jason Voorhees on a spaceship is nonsense, and it makes you wonder who exactly gave the green light to that concept. It’s not like the movie turned out to be any less cheesy than expected. But if you just accept the movie for what it is, which is essentially a horror/comedy, you might walk away entertained.

It was always obvious that this was going to be a one-off entry in the series. It’s not like they were trying to ignite a new series of films centered on Jason Voorhees killing people in the future. But it was also apparent that the series was running out of ideas, short of having Jason finally fight Freddy and then just rebooting the whole damn thing.

Jason X isn’t an Oscar winner, sure, but it can still be fun to watch for big Jason Voorhees fans. Just to see the holographic summer camp scene, if for no other reason.
