10. Heather Langenkamp turned down a cameo role.

One of the most respected scream queens of them all is Heather Langenkamp, whom we best know as Nancy Thompson from the original A Nightmare on Elm Street (as well as the fan favorite sequel A Nightmare on Elm Street III: Dream Warriors and as herself in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare). Her charm is infectious and it’s hard to imagine any other girl in the starring role of the 1984 film.

In 2010, Langenkamp executive produced, narrated, and starred in the documentary Never Sleep Again, which told the story of the entire Elm Street franchise. If she was still heavily involved with the series at that point in her life, then why couldn’t she at least have done a cameo in the film reboot? She very easily could have been written into the script.

As it turns out, that’s Langenkamp’s own decision not to be involved. The actress was approached to play a cameo in the film as a waitress in the opening diner scene of the movie. For reasons unknown, Langenkamp turned down the offer.

Considering how badly the movie was received by horror fans, it’s easy for us to see now that she made the right choice. And it looks like the new Nancy wishes she’d done the same thing…
