2. Director Wes Craven filmed three different endings to the movie.

It seems as if everyone on the production team, right down to the director, Wes Craven, was intent on keeping the ending of the film a surprise to everyone. In fact, Craven had apparently filmed three different endings for Scream 3, intentionally not telling the cast and crew which one he was ultimately going to use.

Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of details about the unused endings, as only one alternate ending made it to the bonus features of the DVD. That ending was only different in that it had Sidney hiding from the killer a lot more, waiting for the right moment to attack. The theatrical version had her fighting a lot more with the killer.

Apparently, there’s another never-before-seen ending that featured the characters watching the rest of Randy’s tape. A screenshot of its footage has made its way online, as well as a piece of the script describing the scene. The way it’s written, I think it would have made an excellent conclusion to the film, given Randy’s popularity with the fans.

Perhaps in an upcoming blu-ray special edition release of the film, we might see this actual footage, as well as any other alternative scenes Craven may have shot for the ending.
