Scream 2 (Dimension Films)

After the success of Wes Craven’s 1996 slasher film Scream, Dimension Films was quick to order a sequel. Here are ten things you didn’t know about it.

To this day, people still talk about how great Scream is.

Shocking its viewers from the very start by killing off a character played by a prominent actress, the movie was a refreshing step away from the tired horror tropes and cliches that the genre’s formula had completely played out.

While treating the kills seriously and making the Ghostface killer(s) legitimately freaky, Scream poked fun at the horror genre to give it a comedic edge as well. The excellent cast, including the likes of Neve Campbell, David Arquette, Courtney Cox, Jamie Kennedy, and Matthew Lillard, really brought to life a compelling story about horror movie-obsessed murderers forcing victims to try and survive their own scary movie.

So with satisfying box office results, Scream 2 was very quickly put into the works, and saw its own release in 1997. As with the film before it (and the one after it), there were plenty of interesting stories and facts about the production behind the scenes, and I’m going to share the ten most intriguing ones with you right now.
