The Purge: Election Year is currently enjoying a successful run in theaters. Here are ten things about the third film of the franchise which you probably didn’t know.

You could say that The Purge franchise is a guilty pleasure for me. They’re more ridiculous than they are horrifying, but if you accept that going in, you can have a great time watching them. The first two were very entertaining, and Election Year was just as enjoyable.

The Washington D.C. setting in the new sequel was oddly appropriate, given the chaotic nature of this year’s election season in real life. It gave the murderers taking part in the “Purge” a chance to dress up as Lady Liberty, Abraham Lincoln, and other iconic patriotic American figures. It’s as goofy as it sounds, but if you liked the previous films, you’ll have a good time here as well.
