7. Rick Moranis refuses to come back for a cameo

If you’re familiar with the original Ghostbusters movies and you saw the reboot, you probably geeked out more than once when seeing special cameos from most of the 80s films’ main cast. We’ll touch on some of these a bit more later, but first let’s look at the one performer from the originals that completely refused to appear in the movie, even for a bit part that would’ve taken one day of shooting.

This would be Rick Moranis, the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids actor who appeared as Ghostbusters accountant Louis Tully in the previous films. The actor himself told THR in a rare interview that he was contacted to have a small role in the reboot, but he apparently wasn’t interested. Here’s how he described his decision not to take part:

"“I hope it’s terrific. But it just makes no sense to me. Why would I do just one day of shooting on something I did 30 years ago?”"

While the concept of a cameo seems lost on Moranis, his refusal shouldn’t come across as too big of a shock. Moranis has not had an on-camera film role since 1997, having semi-retired from acting to focus on raising his children following the tragic death of his wife.
