Felissa Rose and Jonathan Tiersten in ‘Sleepaway Camp’- United Film Distribution Company

Practically every single classic film across every genre has seen some sort of remake at this point, not leaving much left in terms of horror films which haven’t. Let’s look at the top 5 best examples.

They’ve obviously gotten to the most popular horror franchises. HalloweenA Nightmare on Elm Street, and Friday the 13th have all seen attempted reboots of their franchises with new directors doing fresh takes on the classic films, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Going past the big name slasher films, we’ve also seen updated versions of such legendary genre classics like Evil Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and The Hills Have Eyes. Going through so many movies to remake, it would seem Hollywood has already rebooted every horror franchise worth a damn… but there are actually at least five which shockingly haven’t been gotten to yet, which we’ll be taking a look at here.

It should be noted that reboots currently in production, such as Stephen King’s IT and The Crow, won’t be included. I’ll only be looking at horror films which have never been rebooted, with no concrete plans yet in place to do so. I will also be omitting film franchises which are still ongoing (HellraiserChild’s Play).

Now let’s get on with the list!
