2. Gremlins

Gremlins is one of the most well known movies of all time, still regularly getting played every holiday season by fans of the cult classic film. It told the story about a young boy receiving a strange creatured called a Mogwai as a gift, which ends up spawning “gremlin” creatures who wreak havoc on the entire town.

This horror-comedy became such a hit that it not only produced a sequel, but spawned several imitators. Many horror franchises featuring similar scary creatures would pop up, including Critters and Ghoulies. But nothing has ever happened with Gremlins franchise since the release of the 1990 sequel. Being so well known and beloved, why hasn’t a reboot happened yet?

As with Sleepaway Camp, Gremlins was subject to rumors of a remake stemming from a few years ago in 2013, with no real updates since. Seth Grahame-Smith was tapped to produce, before later saying the project was “on hold”. The star of the original films, Zach Galligan, has since said that another sequel in the series was coming, but has remained quiet on the subject almost an entire year later. As of now, no Gremlins reboot or sequel has gotten the greenlight from the studio.
