Halloween: Every Michael Myers Actor Unmasked
By Jeremy Dick
Halloween 4 (Dimension Films)
George P. Wilbur
The intention was for the story of Michael Myers to conclude with the ending of Halloween II. The third film in the series, Halloween III: Season of the Witch, introduced an entirely new storyline without Myers in it at all. Audiences shunned the film, which told the story of an evil corporation manufacturing halloween masks capable of killing children, and Myers was brought back for Halloween 4.
To play Michael this time, professional stuntman George P. Wilbur was brought in. He played the part of the silent killer in such convincing fashion, that he returned for Halloween 6 to play Myers again. This made him the first actor in the series to play Michael Myers more than one time. Only one other actor in the series would share this accomplishment.
While Wilbur’s on-screen performance as Michael Myers is what he’s best known for in front of the camera, what he did best took place behind it. A member of the Hollywood Stuntmen’s Hall of Fame, Wilbur was one of the very best in the field. He would work as a stuntman for over 40 years before retiring, including getting a start standing in for John Wayne and working on over 100 television shows and movies.
