With one month until Halloween, the haunt season has begun. Today sees the TV commercial for Universal Studios Orlando’s 26th annual Halloween Horror Nights.

The time is getting ever closer, residents of Elm Street. You can almost feel the chill in the air, hear the dead leaves crinkling beneath your feet, smell the burning wood of a bonfire.

Yes, fiends, it’s OUR time. Halloween is almost here.

Every year around this time the haunts open. It’s one of few things when it comes to Halloween sadly, I don’t have much of an opportunity to partake in as typically they tend to not be handicap accessible. In just a week and a day, one of the most popular haunts is upon us. The 26th annual

This year’s Halloween Horror Nights promises to be one of the best. This year’s mazes include The Walking Dead, Freddy Vs. Jason, Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, The Exorcist, American Horror Story, The Purge, Halloween, and Krampus— I guess Christmas is coming early this year. Though, of course for us horror fans, Halloween is our Christmas.

You can check out previews of each maze by going to the Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights website.

The mazes aren’t the only thing going on at this month and a half long event. There will also be scare zones, such as:

"SURVIVE OR DIE APOCALYPSEA Global catastrophe has ruined Earth’s atmosphere. Now three warring gangs fight for control of a machine that provides clean air. All three gangs are looking for new members to help them destroy the others. Join them, or feed their starving ranks.LAIR OF THE BANSHEEDeep in the forest there is a centuries-old dark hollow where evil spirits and horrific creatures of the ancient world roam free. Now the modern world has found the entrance to this sinister place. Enter, if you dare, and meet the primordial horror of these dark spirits.DEAD MAN’S WHARFToday, on the anniversary of the disappearance of the fishing vessel Annabel Lee, a thick fog has rolled in. The spirits of the lost crew have returned to punish the town that left them to die on the open seas, and make sure the dock earns its morbid nickname.VAMP ’55Welcome to Hollywood High School’s 1955 Homecoming Parade. Everything is perfect until the greasers roll into town with fangs as sharp as their switchblades. The festive scene has turned to chaos as vampires attack from all around.A CHANCE IN HELLGet ready for the audition of a lifetime. Chance may be locked away, but that hasn’t stopped her. As the alarms ring and the bloody remains of those who tried to stop her lie around, she’s busy recruiting cellmates to join her biggest act yet."

Of these scare zones, the one that sticks out to me the most is ‘Vamp ’55’. It mixes two of my favorite things, vampires, and greasers. Who doesn’t love the Joel Schumacher classic The Lost Boys? Yes, you could say The Lost Boys were more punk than greasers, but to me, they are one and the same. The only difference is their respective era.

Well residents of Elm Street, are you going to check out Halloween Horror Nights 26? What are you most excited for?
