All But Forgotten Halloween TV Specials

Disney’s The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow
This is undoubtedly one of my favorites. My absolute favorite will be revealed a little later. I’m not even sure why I love Disney’s The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow so much. For an animated special by Disney, it’s equal parts funny and creepy. I think the songs make it even more creepy. Disney’s version of The Headless Horseman may be one of the most frightening.
At one time Disney would push the envelope. This brings us to the next of the forgotten Halloween TV specials:
Mr. Boogedy
Mr. Boogedy is a 1986 made for TV movie that aired on the Disney Channel many times. It’s your standard haunted house family movie. A practical joke salesman moves into a house with his family. It turns out to be haunted. And the family must learn the mystery of Mr. Boogedy.
Mr. Boogedy was popular enough to spawn a sequel in 1987, Bride Of Boogedy. Sadly sometime during the 90s a bunch of parents decided Mr. Boogedy and it’s sequel were too risque, and they have been banned from The Disney Channel ever since. One of the only ways to find these movies is a severely overpriced ($70) DVD that is likely a bootleg.
