2. Olivia is shot in the face and dies
Scott Gimple, the showrunner, sure thinks he’s sneaky, doesn’t he? He knew comic readers were predicting the death of Glenn for the premiere. So, he first kills Abraham to kind of throw off the scent. People were thinking that was the big death of the show, until Glenn dies moments later.
Similar situation here. We all saw Spencer coming, so Gimple wanted to compensate by taking out someone else too. And so he chose to get rid of the most expendable character on the show. Olivia takes a bullet to the face after Negan tells the Saviors to pick somebody to kill. And so Olivia is shot in the face instead of Negan, as was Rosita’s plan.
I felt this was kind of a waste. I would have liked to see Olivia get some sort of moment, the way many long dead characters had before biting it. She would endure Negan’s abuse, dealing with his insults and sexual harassment like a champ. But before she could have any type of redeeming moment, she’s shot right in the face.
But I guess that’s just how it is with The Walking Dead. Not everyone gets to have that major moment, and sometimes people just die.
