11. Vera-Ellen “Baby” Firefly (Sheri Moon Zombie, The Devil’s Rejects)
Baby Firefly makes her first appearance in Rob Zombie’s directorial debut film House of 1000 Corpses. She is seemingly one of the more innocent members of the deranged family depicted in the film. But a small taste of how sinister she really can be comes out by the end of the film, after she stabs one of the main characters to death. It’s a mere sign of more brutality to come for her.
The sequel The Devil’s Rejects expands upon Baby’s story, making her a much bigger character. Along with her crazy father Captain Spaulding and their family friend Otis, the trio embark on a vicious killing spree. Baby uses her seemingly innocent personality and sex appeal to lure in hapless victims, showing no remorse in taking part in their murders. In fact, Baby truly enjoys killing, and it appears to bring her great joy, making her that much more dangerous.
Rob Zombie films are generally hit or miss with the horror community, but many fans consider The Devil’s Rejects to be his best. That can be partially attributed to its stellar cast, including Sheri Moon Zombie as the very memorable Baby Firefly.
