23. Ginny Field (Amy Steel, Friday the 13th Part 2)
In the very beginning of Friday the 13th Part 2, Jason offs the final remaining survivor of his mother’s recent massacre. Hellbent on keeping his mommy’s murderous rampage going, the body count continues with Jason. He heads to the camp counselor training area known as Packanack Lodge and starts picking off the would-be Camp Crystal Lake counselors there.
One of those training counselors would be Ginny Field. She’s familiar with the “Camp Blood” legends, and actually shows sympathy for Jason Voorhees. That opinion changes soon enough when Jason appears and murders all of her friends. Ginny is then fighting for her life as Jason, wearing a sack over his head, tries to maim her.
Fortunately, she comes across Jason’s shack in the woods, noticing his mother’s severed head and clothing on display. Ginny gets the idea to confuse Jason by dressing up as Mrs. Voorhees. The intelligent ruse pays off, as the lunatic Jason buys into the trick long enough for Ginny to plant a machete into him.
Ginny is one of those final girls whom I can’t help but just be so happy to see her survive. You could say she’s the first person to outwit Jason, doing so before Tommy Jarvis does something similar in Part 4.
