4. ‘Soul’ and ‘Morals’ are Relative
Quite often, Tarantino-like movies are critiqued for lacking “soul.” However, I have to ask: Does a movie really require “soul” be enjoyed? Must it be steeped in moral value? Who’s to say how much moral value is needed, and what is and is not exactly moralistic? What is the “Goldilocks zone”?
Of course, this is all a matter of taste. In my view, a movie — or any other type of art — shouldn’t be required to reflect certain moral values simply to exist, or to thrive.
