The ‘Happy Death Day’ trailer has dropped, and it looks fun!
The official trailer for Happy Death Day has dropped, and you can check out the video of said trailer for this fun homage to 90s slashers right here!
Do you ever wonder what “Groundhog Day” would have been like if it were a horror film? No? But now you’re curious? Well today is your day!
The trailer for Happy Death Day has been released and it looks like a 90’s slasher by Sam Raimi if he rewrote Groundhog Day. Blumhouse Productions is distributing it (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Get Out, Sinister,The Purge franchises). It’s directed by Christopher B. Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse) and stars newcomer Jessica Rothe as Tree Gelbman.
Rothe’s character must relive her birthday over and over again until she finds out who is behind the baby doll mask that’s killing her. I haven’t watched Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones but the franchise kind of lost my interest when they started getting into the whole “prophecy” and origin tales that a lot of horror movies tend to get into lately.
Do we really need to know the origin of whatever evil entity is attacking? It’s much scarier that we don’t know any kind of explanation for anything in my opinion. So, if they ever make a sequel to Happy Death Day I hope they don’t get into origins of why she’s “on repeat” (please don’t let it be some weird childhood ghost that’s been with her).
Watch the trailer below and chime in with your thoughts!
Next: Friday the 13th game offering first Double XP weekend
Blumhouse hit a home run with Get Out earlier this year; let’s hope they continue the streak with this picture. The movie will be released nationwide this October, Friday the 13th. Excellent day if you ask me.
