You can’t keep a Good Guy down. So like Jason took Manhattan, Chucky will be taking London this August!

“Hi FrightFest, I’m Chucky, wanna play?”

Following on from the awesome trailer that was released the other day, it has been revealed that Cult of Chucky will be receiving its world premiere at the annual London FrightFest this August.

Below are the official details taken from the FrightFest website:

"THURSDAY 24TH AUGUSTCULT OF CHUCKYWorld PremiereDirector: Don Mancini. With: Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Andy Barclay, Alex Vincent, Michael Therriault. USA 2017. 91 minsConfined to an asylum for the criminally insane for the past four years, Nica Pierce is erroneously convinced that she, not Chucky, murdered her entire family. But when her psychiatrist introduces a new therapeutic “tool” to facilitate his patients’ group sessions – an all-too-familiar “Good Guy” doll – a string of grisly deaths begins to plague the asylum, and Nica starts to wonder if maybe she isn’t crazy after all. Andy Barclay, Chucky’s now-grown-up original nemesis races to Nica’s aid. But he’ll have to get past Tiffany, Chucky’s bride, who will do anything, no matter how deadly or depraved, to help her beloved devil doll."

The trailer, which shows that the movie is more in line with the tone of the original Child’s Play and  Curse of Chucky rather than Bride or Seed, has certainly created a buzz across the horror community over the past few days.

We here at 1428 Elm can’t wait for the return of Chucky and have a lot of content planned around the Child’s Play franchise for you guys to read in the upcoming months leading to the blu-ray release in October. The first of which, a retrospective on the first Child’s Play written by our very own Aaron Posey, you can find linked below.

Chucky is officially the last slasher standing.

My First Review

Make sure you keep your eyes on the website in August as a few of my friends and I have managed to secure tickets for this screening. So yes, we here at 1428 Elm are going to be there! I will endeavour to write and post a review up whilst I’m on the train home the next day. I will do two reviews; one with spoilers, and one without.

From a fan’s perspective and not my inner critic, I am very excited that I finally get to see Chucky on the big screen after being a little too young to see any of the previous entries, from the first until Seed (and Curse only being given a blu-ray release and not a cinematic run here in the UK). Although I am sure that was the same situation in the USA.

Cult of Chucky will find its way into your horror collection October 3rd, 2017. If you haven’t already, check out the trailer below. Red Band of course!
