‘Friday the 13th’ game glitch gives Xbox users Savini Jason for free
By Jeremy Dick
After a recent update for the Xbox version of Friday the 13th: The Game, an apparent glitch let many users download the Savini Jason skin for free.
If backers were upset about PS4 users being able to buy Savini Jason for $6, this is really going to get under their skin!
Yesterday, the long-awaited update for the Xbox version of Friday the 13th: The Game finally went live. Due to Microsoft taking longer to approve the update, it was last in line to get the patch which alleviates many glitches and bugs affecting the game.
But along with the update came a special treat for some fans of the game lucky enough to notice. The “Savini Jason” skin also popped up in the Xbox store as a FREE downloadable add-on for the game. This skin was an exclusive preorder-only bonus meant to never go on sale after the release of the game, so some of the backers are not too happy. Gamers were quick to point out the issue to the game’s official support account on Twitter.
Online, users who managed to get the DLC are saying that it’s working just fine. We will see if ultimately Gun Media has Microsoft yank the skin from people who got it, but as that didn’t happen during the similar PS4 glitch, it seems unlikely.

As of this writing, some players online are claiming that the skin is still available to get for free. It’s not showing up on my system, so I can’t confirm that — but I already have Savini Jason for backing the game. If Savini Jason is still up, I’m not expecting it to be that way for much longer.
Friday the 13th: The Game is available on Xbox One, PS4, and Steam.
