Pro: Original character Creighton Duke is admittedly a total badass

While there are tons of differences in this film compared to prior entries in the series, not every single one of them was bad. Case in point: one of this movie’s characters in one of the biggest badasses in the franchise, no matter how good or bad the rest of the movie might be. I am talking about none other than the bounty hunter Creighton Duke.

With a background more mysterious than any other character from all of the films, Duke has apparently been tracking Jason for years. Through his research, he has discovered that the only way to truly defeat him is by having somebody from his own bloodline kill him. To do so, this relative must also use a particular magic dagger, which the Duke has somehow gotten his hands on.

How did Creighton figure any of this stuff out? Who explained it to him? How exactly did he get that dagger? Of course, none of this is explained in the movie. Still, it heavily implies that whatever Duke had to do, he’s a total badass for it.

Creighton also has several very funny lines in the film. For example, when asked about the first thing that comes to mind when he hears the name Jason, Duke thinks of “a little girl in a pink dress sticking a hot dog through a doughnut.” I have no idea what the hell that means, but I do know there couldn’t possibly have been a better way to answer that question.
