Scream 4 has a long forgotten video game where you play as Ghostface
By Jeremy Dick
Back when the fourth Scream movie was released in 2011, an official tie-in video game was released as well, but it has since been long forgotten by fans.
Six years before Jason Voorhees was slaughtering teenager in Friday the 13th: The Game, Ghostface was going on his own virtual killing spree… all the way back in 2011!
Back during this time, Wes Craven had premiered the fourth (and likely final) film in his Scream movie series. Also during this time, app and mobile games were enjoying a rise in popularity, and therefore, tie-ins were inevitable. So to help promote the film, an official Scream 4 video game was put out on both Android and Apple devices.
In this game, you play as Ghostface, and your goal is to murder every teenager you can without being caught. For each of the various stages you can play (including a high school and a frat party), you’ll hunt down jocks, nerds, and cheerleaders until there is nobody left. Be careful, you don’t want to get busted by the police!

Oddly enough, many horror fans had no idea that this game existed, or at the least have no recollection of it nowadays. Coming across footage of it surprised me, that’s for sure — I’d think a game about slaughtering teens in a high school would have gotten more attention in the media.
However, one of the reasons this game has been forgotten is likely because it’s no longer available. This game has since vanished from both the Apple and Google app stores, and there doesn’t seem to be any way to play it nowadays. Fortunately, video footage of it can still be found on YouTube, if you want to see exactly how this thing played:

Judging from the gameplay footage… the game looks like it’s actually not that bad. Perhaps now it’s time to revisit the concept of a Scream game. At least, as a fan of the franchise, one can only hope.
