9. I Spit On Your Grave (1978)

This film is a revenge exploitation film. I Spit On Your Grave tells the story of Jennifer Hills, a New York author who decides to rent an isolated cabin to work on her novel. Jennifer’s attacked and assaulted by four men. However, she survives and becomes a one woman wrecking crew and exacts bloody and violent revenge on her attackers.

The film became banned in Iceland, Ireland, Germany and Norway. The film attracted controversy due to its graphic violence, nudity, and a rape scene that takes up 30 minutes film time. Film critic Roger Ebert famously gave it zero stars and called it  “a vile bag of garbage”.
