Description: Based on the hit Insidious film franchise including the upcoming supernatural thriller, Insidious: The Last Key. The all-new maze will delve deep into brilliant parapsychologist Dr. Elise Rainer’s past, starting with a childhood in which her paranormal abilities emerged…until her mother’s untimely death by a demonic entity.

Troubled by a lifetime of evil supernatural spirits trapped in the Further – a vacuous netherworld caught between the living and the dead – Elise will take guests on an unsettling journey back in time through a portal into the Further to defy the most depraved and intimidating beings that have tormented her since the 1950s.

My Thoughts: It pains me to have to write a negative review about one of my favorite Halloween Horror Nights inspired mazes. When I first moved to California and went to Halloween Horror Nights Hollywood, I was blown away by their Insidious house. I have been consistently pleased with the execution of these mazes but this year’s house left a lot to be desired. I understand that they could only do so much since the next film in the beloved franchise has yet to come out; however, I felt as though the design and scares could have been amplified more. The Further, one of the creepiest aspects of the films, was pretty bare bones with just black walls and noticeable cut outs from where the actors popped out of. I’m hoping this was just a misdirection from the creative team and if there is another maze next year they will up the ante.
