Ash Wednesday: Here’s to you, Bruce Campbell. Thanks!
It’s Ash Wednesday at 1428 Elm and even more reason to celebrate Bruce Campbell. Congratulations on your Fangoria Chainsaw award for Best TV Actor.
“Boom, baby, boom!” – Ashley J. Williams
The Chainsaw
Of course, since it’s Ash Wednesday at 1428 Elm, we wouldn’t miss the opportunity to give a shout out to our staff favorite, Mr. Bruce Campbell. Recently, Bruce took home the Fangoria coveted Chainsaw Award for Best TV Actor for Ash vs Evil Dead.
It is no secret that we enjoy his work and that show at our site. True, we do cover him rather extensively not only because we are horror entertainment journalists but because we are fans as well. That is why we were extremely happy to hear that he won this honor especially since the future of Ash vs Evil Dead remains up in the air.
Another reason why we feel a sort of kinship with Evil Dead is because at the heart of it, we are similar to the little indie that could. 1428 Elm is a smaller operation than some of the other sites out there so we have quite a bit to prove. We are a scrappy bunch!
From Humble Beginnings

It is interesting to see just how far Bruce has evolved in his career. From that untested and unproven young actor in the original Evil Dead to a New York Times Best Selling author in 2017 is an impressive journey.
Along the way, in addition to Ash Williams, he has created some memorable characters that still resonate in popular culture today. From his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the beautifully quirky Bubba Ho-Tep to ex-Navy Seal badass, Sam Axe in Burn Notice to his turn on Fargo as the revered former President Ronald Reagan he has never failed to delight his audience.
Bruce has never forgotten his past and this is part of his appeal. He doesn’t act as if he should be placed on a pedestal and that is why he has such a loyal and dedicated fanbase. In his mind, he is just a working stiff who happens to be an actor. Another reason why people identify with him.
A Sincere Thank You

From the very start, Bruce has always been very appreciative of his fans. He was one of the first actors that would do the convention circuit. I remember seeing video of him from the late 80s. He did the Comic Cons before they became ultra-swanky affairs with tons of publicity.
This is why his fans love him. Every time he does a Con, someone will proudly post a photo of themselves with him invariably with the same comment of how approachable he is and how he takes the time to be personable with them.
He knows where his bread is buttered. More times than not, he tells people in interviews that the fans are his clients. In turn, his fans respect him and give him his privacy because he genuinely appreciates them. Unfortunately, that is rare in the entertainment industry.
At present, he is in the midst of an extensive book tour to promote his Hail to the Chin memoir. His book signings are entertaining and he makes sure that every person gets some time with him. That is commendable.
So, thank you, Bruce Campbell. We look forward to whatever the future holds for you and support all your forthcoming endeavors. Congratulations.
