The Strangers sequel is creeping its way closer to theaters, scaring up an official release date and all new title for the freaky follow-up flick.

Things are going to get strange again in 2018!

If you’re like me, you enjoyed the hell out of the 2008 film The Strangers. When it was originally released it was a fresh dose of originality to the home invasion. It was unsettling, creepy and kept you on edge. When the film ended you had no closure. You weren’t sure who these Strangers were. The only rational you got for their actions was simply because the occupants were home.

The original film told the story of James and his girlfriend Kristen. While in a remote house they are besieged by three masked strangers. It all starts with an ominous knock at the door. The woman at the door asks for a female who doesn’t live there. As she is told she has the wrong house she departs but not before the ominous uttering that she will “see them later”. The couple is then terrorized by thee masked assailants as they attempt to and eventually enter the house.

Talk or rather rumors of a sequel have made the rounds for years. But the horror news wire has just learned that a sequel is in fact happening. We have been given a release date and even an official title of the long-awaited sequel.

According to Screen Rant, the new film is titled Strangers: Prey at NightBarring any sort of setbacks or scheduling problems tentatively the film is slated to hit theaters on March 9, 2018, which is actually the 10th anniversary of the original film. Director Johannes Roberts of 47 Meters Down  fame will be taking on directing duties.

With the announcement of the title and release date a very brief plot synopsis has also been disclosed along with the first picture from the production. According to Bloody Disgusting the plot consists of “A family’s road trip takes a dangerous turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park to stay with some relatives and find it mysteriously deserted. Under the cover of darkness, three masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test the family’s every limit as they struggle to survive.”

Finally some verifiable news of this sequel actually taking place is here. Hopefully the sequel can live up to the original and the atmosphere of suspense they were able to capture. It will be nice to catch up our favorite psychopaths Dollface, Man in the Mask, and Pin-up Girl. And hopefully we finally get the answer if Kristen survived that fateful night 10 years ago.
