Dana DeLorenzo of Ash vs Evil Dead dropped by WGN Radio to talk with Nick Digilio about her turn as Claire in her new film, The Mad Ones and Kelly Maxwell!

“Is there any world where this doesn’t have something to do with Ash?” – Kelly Maxwell

The World of Cons

Dana DeLorenzo, Kelly Maxwell of Ash vs Evil Dead dropped by the WGN Radio studios to talk with host, Nick Digilio. In addition to rapping about the new upcoming season of AVED, Dana was also down to discuss her new movie, The Mad Ones.

Currently doing the Con circuit, Dana will be appearing this weekend at the Walker Stalker event in Atlanta, Georgia with her fellow castmates, Bruce Campbell, Ray Santiago, Lee Majors, Ted Raimi, and Jill Marie Jones. One of the things among many, that makes DeLorenzo so refreshing is her passion for the AVED fans.

She truly enjoys doing Cons because she loves getting to meet the fanbase. In her own words, “Getting to hear the excitement and the passion from the fans, that’s why this show is made. It’s a love letter to the lifelong fans and hopefully new fans as well.”

Dana went on to say that is why she became an entertainer to share those moments. She is very effusive about the passionate, loyal Deadites that enjoy the show.  One of the things that she admitted to was becoming so overly enthusiastic about seeing Kelly cosplayers that she scares them away!

On the subject of AVED, Nick mentioned that he noticed the cast has increased. Dana went on to explain, “The newest cast members are Arielle Carver-O’Neill and Lindsay Farris. Lindsay is the boy. They are both Australian actors and can we just say Australian actors are going to take over the world! Australian actors are the best actors of all time!”

That is pretty high praise which only makes me even more excited for season three. She went on to say, “Arielle is playing Ash’s daughter. Ash being a father is a horror show in and of itself.” Dana is so ebullient about the show that she said she is “literally smiling.”

Lindsay Farris plays Dalton who is a friend of Kelly. “He has all the ties to this mythology of Evil Dead. He comes from the Knights of Sumeria. So, we get to explore the uber personal relationship of a father-daughter with Ash.”

“Really, it’s just one big dysfunctional family and chaos as you would hope. This season is about family, the kind that is bound by blood and the kind that is bound by bloodshed.” “It’s a rollercoaster. I can’t wait for you to see it!”

“The second season I felt we really hit our stride. Everyone, the writers just went 1000 %. The best compliment that I receive is ‘Hey, we’re lifelong fans.’” “This show is truly made for you. Now, that the fans are invested and onboard, it doesn’t get any better than that.”

Here’s to the Mad Ones

The Mad Ones is about twentysomething professionals who have everything going for them but are not fulfilling their dreams. According to director-writer,  Aniruddh Pandit, “Honestly, I am so excited that people are going to see Dana’s range. People love her as Kelly in Ash vs Evil Dead. Yeah, there is a strong ball buster there.”

In the film, “She is a different kind of strong and completely sensitive person.” Nick Digilio chimed in as well. “Dana, it is a truly great performance.”

Pandit went on to say that the story is about three professionals who are “looking for something honest and truthful in their lives.” The road to making this film wasn’t easy. According to Dana, “Everyone involved from the cast and crew really just devoted and sacrificed a lot of their hearts.”

Digilio brought up a pivotal speech in the Mad Ones about the Grand Canyon praising DeLorenzo for her beautiful delivery of the moving monologue. Dana admitted that she “hadn’t even been to the Grand Canyon and it inspired me to go.”

I thoroughly agree with Nick on his assessment of this film. If you are a fan of Dana’s work, make time to see this wonderful little indie. You will not be disappointed.

You can find the Mad Ones on VOD, Amazon, Google Play, Vudu, My Dish, Microsoft and iTunes.
