X Files: Mitch Pileggi reveals Skinner crushes on Dana Scully?!
Another X Files Season 11 tease comes from none other than Assistant Director Skinner himself. Mitch Pileggi reveals that his character may have a thing for Dana Scully.
Scully: You’ve been our ally more times than I can say.
Skinner: Not the kind of ally that I could have been.
Skinner vs Mulder
For years, Assistant Director Skinner and Agent Fox Mulder were allies against the Syndicate. Many, many times the middle management bureaucrat put his life on the line for the X Files duo. Now, a new dynamic has entered the picture and tensions may be rising!
At 1428 Elm, we premiered the X Files Season 11 trailer. In one of the scenes, Mulder and Skinner are fighting one another. Recently in the International Business Times, series star Mitch Pileggi hinted that a woman might be behind the rumble between the two friends.
Pileggi stated that, “It’s about Scully.” He then went one step further in his confession by adding, “Skinner might have a little crush on her.” Oh my, Walter! We hardly knew ye! I have been watching the show since it premiered in 1993 and I never would have guessed that he even harbored any feelings for her.
Let’s face it. Skinner is uber professional. He never hints at double entendres and always carries himself with dignity. The Assistant Director always has his game face on so inquiring minds want to know, when did this all come about?
Shippers Paradise
Mitch hints that there might be some “resentment toward Mulder” early on in the season. His character has always been somewhat protective of both his agents. Making abhorrent deals with the Cigarette Smoking Man Spender to keep Mulder and Scully out of harm’s way behind closed doors.
According to the actor, both characters are “bulls possessing a shitload of testosterone,” which may account for the sudden surge in passionate emotions. Where Scully is concerned, the normally passive and aloof Mulder can get very riled up while she brings out Skinner’s caring side.
This is definitely an interesting dynamic that X Files showrunner Chris Carter has created. Probably the notorious “shippers” of this show that continue to hope for a Mulder and Scully reconciliation will be overcome at the thought of a love triangle!
With each new bit of information that comes out of the series camp, season eleven is shaping up to be quite exciting. Hopefully, it will deliver on its promise.
