In 1987, Dream Warriors arrives and truly begins Freddy mania. But while the film is a huge hit, Patricia Arquette (Kristen) is looking to do different, more series, work. The sequel is greenlit for a release a year later and Tuesday Knight steps in to fill Kristen’s shoes. Which leads to Kristen being recast early in The Dream Master — a huge mistake.
Before I get into it, I’ll say it’s a difficult situation. Having a hit film on your hands and needing to move forward for the bottom line, I understand New Line’s reasoning. That said, Knight is nowhere near the actress Arquette is and it’s evident in every frame. We love Tuesday, but this recasting shouldn’t have happened. A different script maybe?
