End of An Era?

According to the Express, Gillian Anderson may have filmed her last episode of the X-Files. Not for Season 11 but for good! This past week Anderson had tweeted out various images of herself indicating that this may be her final foray as the beloved Agent Scully.

However, apparently series creator Chris Carter is coming back for Season 12 with production to start in the summer. Recently, David Duchovny stated, “I’m open. I love working with these people and I love the show. I’m always open. It’s a struggle to get everyone together at the same time, regardless of what [creator] Chris [Carter] says. If they want to do it, I’m open to do it.”

If Anderson does depart the series, what is the fate of the show? Right now, the future of the show is out there just like the truth.

Season 11 Heats Up

A new featurette courtesy of Entertainment Weekly gives viewers glimpses into behind the scenes action as well as additional trailer footage. New character development information is also coming to light. Apparently, Mulder has a unique hobby.

We see him in what appears to be a grassy type suit. In reality, it is a Sasquatch or Bigfoot costume. Evidently, Fox is really into “Squatchin” in his down time. Who knew?

While audience members anticipate more information on Assistant Director Skinner’s origins, Carter reveals that the Cigarette Smoking Man figures prominently in this season’s plot. According to the showrunner, “We learn some interesting things about the Cigarette Smoking Man and I think those will be shocking.”

Hidden Agenda

In a scene, CSM (William B. Davis) states to Agent Reyes (Annabeth Gish) that, “Mulder will be coming for me. If he finds me, he will kill me. But we’re not to be found.” Why is this happening? We always knew Mulder detested his alleged father.

Another surprise is the return of Jeffrey Spender (Chris Owens) and the revelation that he has been hiding William. Scully asks him to find her son because Mulder needs him. Hopefully, we will find out why Spender was his caretaker.

In a shot with Skinner, Haley Joel Osment is briefly seen on camera. There is also an interaction between Erika Price (Barbara Hershey) and Fox Mulder where she ominously tells him, “You don’t understand what’s about to happen.”

Must See TV

The more information that is released, the more the X-Files looks like it is going to be the must-see event of 2018 on broadcast television. In preparation for the season 11 debut on January 3, 2018 at 9 p.m., Fox is streaming the entire series.

If there were episodes that you missed, now is your chance to see them. The fight for the future is about to begin!
