You might not know this from looking at the title only, but God Particle really just Cloverfield 3. As the official third installment of the franchise (behind Cloverfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane), it’s certainly a film that’s must-see for anyone who’s enjoyed the first two (such as myself).
For other horror franchises, it may take a bit longer than the third entry before they take the story to outer space. God Particle is taking Cloverfield there by focusing on a team of astronauts working on some kind of scientific experiment using a particle accelerator. Before their very eyes, the earth actually vanishes, leaving the astronauts stranded in space. They do come across a space station, but apparently what they discover next is a fate even worse than being lost in space…
What I love about this franchise so far is how all three entries are so very different from one another. It began with a found footage monster movie, then switching gears as a compelling psychological horror film set in an underground bunker. Now we’re venturing into the realm of sci-fi horror with the third entry, but you know what? I’m perfectly okay with that.
