There are twelve movies in the Friday the 13th franchise, and today we’re going through and looking at each one of the official posters in the film series.

Just don’t even think about asking me to pick a favorite…

From 1980 to 2009, we have seen twelve Friday the 13th movies hit theaters. Fans of the series will enjoy certain entries more than others, sure. But we can all agree that the official posters from the franchise are all pretty amazing. Let’s take a look at each one of them, starting with Sean S. Cunningham’s original…

While I like every poster in the franchise, the original is certainly one of my favorites. It’s eye-grabbing and has perplexed me for as far back as I can recall. I remember seeing this artwork in the video store as a child, before I had managed to see the films. More so than Jason or the hockey mask, it was this iconic artwork which had me convinced I needed to see these Friday the 13th movies.

The poster captures everything the film is all about. You can only see the silhouette of the murderer, and the killer is never even shown until the end of the movie. And the dark campground shown inside really sets the tone for the genuine summer camp feeling Friday the 13th will give you.
