Friday the 13th: A look at every official movie poster in the series

This poster for Friday the 13th Part 2 is obviously very similar to the original film, sans the artwork in the silhouette. We have a mere outline of the murderer, this time holding an ax rather than a knife. Only the logo with the added “Part 2” is seen in the silhouette, and you could see it’s a more basic version of the first one.

Still, there’s something about the simplicity of the poster that makes me a fan. The hockey mask wouldn’t enter the fray until the next film, as Jason wore the burlap sack over his head in this first sequel. So even though this movie’s not necessarily a “whodunnit?” like the previous film, Paramount likely didn’t want to give away what Jason looks like right away with the poster. Featuring similar artwork to the original is a nice throwback, and together, the two films had their own unique poster art.
