A Nightmare on Elm Street: A look at every movie poster in the series

The character of Freddy Krueger was, for all intents and purposes, deceased by the end of Freddy’s Dead. But franchise creator Wes Craven had an idea to breathe some new life into the series from a totally different angle. That would bring about Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, a film inspired by the filmmaker’s original idea for the third film. This time, a real-world monster taking the form of Freddy Krueger sets his sights on many of the original movie’s stars, including Heather Langenkamp (now playing herself).
Our poster for New Nightmare doesn’t use the original art style, which makes sense as this is a completely separate story. Here, darkness is utilized, giving us a very black poster with just a hint of Freddy’s freaky eyes. It may not show us much, but the incredibly ominous poster did well in attracting horror fans into the theater to see the film. Hopefully those fans would enjoy it, because it’d be almost a decade before Freddy made it back to the big screen…
