Boo 2! A Madea Halloween: The Tyler Parody Of Halloween Horror
By David Lloyd
"“How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?” In my opinion, you could enjoy one in far less time than it did for me to get through this film."
A HOLLOWED RECAP
I will not review Boo 2! A Medea Halloween as a horror fan because if I did I would have some very harsh things to say about this second installment in the “Boo“ series. Yes, people, it’s a series now so deal with it.
Taking place a year after the first film, we see Tiffany a year older, played by Diamond White, along with best friend Gabriela, played by Inanna Surkis, heading back to the frat house for another Halloween party. Unbeknownst to them, the frat house had been shut down from partying activity because of the fiasco that ensued the previous year with Tiffany being underage.

But being the sex-craved and typical college frat guy he portrays, Jonathan, played by Yousef Erkat, has only one thing on his mind; beer, bare-chested selfie pics and seeing Tiffany naked. After some persuading by Tiffany, he then happily invites her to the Halloween party at Lake Derrick, the scene of some gruesome teen slayings.
Brian, the doting and loving father of Tiffany, played by Tyler Perry resumes his other famous roles as Madea, his Aunt, and Joe, his father along with regulars Hattie and Bam played by Patrice Lovely and Cassi Davis, respectively, who all bring their own brand of hilarity. This birthday Brian is outshone in the gift department by his ex-wife, Debrah, played by Taja V. Simpson, who gives her unlicensed daughter a brand new car, without talking to him about it first.
After the birthday party is dismissed by a thankless and rude Tiffany, she and her friends head out to have some real fun. Madea finding out about the lie between Debrah and Tiffany takes matters into her own hands (as usual) and decides to track the girls down and bring them back home. All while hoping to save them and the girls from the lake killers that were never caught.
FINAL THOUGHTS ON THE BOO
I myself am not a fan of Tyler Perry movies, so with that known, if you are a fan of his movies and characters you will more than likely flock to Boo 2! A Medea Halloween. In my non-horror mind, this was not funny for me, except for a few scenes later in the movie. So again, if you’re a fan you will more than likely enjoy it.
One thing I have been unable to comprehend though is why some would label this a horror/comedy since it was neither scary nor funny (rimshot). But don’t take my word for it, go check it out for yourself. Until then, Auf Wiedersehen.
