The Struggle Is Over

Variety has reported that the month and a half struggle between STARZ and cable provider Optimum (parent company Altice) has indeed come to an end. For Ash vs Evil Dead fans, this is terrific news right before Valentine’s Day.

Or should we say, Ash Wednesday? Either way, you get the picture. Service for those affected areas in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut should be coming back at the end of this month. Right in time to catch the Season 3 premiere of Ash vs Evil Dead!

According to Variety, the deal works in favor of both companies. It gives Optimum/Altice “expanded access to STARZ programming on VOD and authenticated streaming platforms” which is definitely a win-win any way you look at it.

This year for AVED is very critical. Season 3 is all about ratings and viewership and this agreement between the network and a major cable provider couldn’t have come at a better time. The area that Optimum serves contains several very heavily populated metro areas.

Rewarding STARZ

If fans want a season 4 renewal then they need to heed Bruce Campbell’s advice courtesy of Review Fix, “STARZ has been a great partner and this is what fans need to understand. They need to reward STARZ. If you want an unrated tv show, you’re not going to find it on ABC. This is unrestricted content.”

“You don’t get that s*** for free. You’re paying for custom entertainment and the unrestricted content.”

Message received Bruce. He also went on to say, “If you want the show to stay on the air, you have to put money into the pockets of the company that makes the show. It’s just that simple. If you don’t, the show goes off the air.”

For those fans who don’t want to pay for STARZ or a STARZ approved provider and think that they will get around to watching the show eventually on their particular platform, Bruce Campbell says think again. “Dude, it may be gone by the time it gets to your platform.”

Harsh reality but true words none the less. Bottom line is watch the show now not later. If later, then Season 3 could be the last we hear of Elk Grove and no one wants that outcome.
